What is Vitamin B6?

Have you noticed the ingredient pyridoxine hydrochloride on our label? Say it with us: peer-ih-dox-een high-dro-klor-eyed. Don’t worry, the spelling stressed us out too. Almost as much as the pronunciation. So we asked our Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Rob Bent, to weigh in on pyridoxine hydrochloride - a.k.a. Vitamin B6 - and its importance in the Som Stack™.

What is it:

Vitamin B6 is a nutrient essential to our body’s functions. We can’t produce it, so we have to consume it through foods, drinks, or dietary supplements. If you’re not particularly keen on chickpeas, tuna, or bananas, you might be in need of pyridoxine, which is a dietary form of Vitamin B6.

What is does:

Vitamin B6 turns carbs into energy, teams up with other vitamins to maintain clear arteries, and is critical to the production of serotonin. Serotonin doesn’t just make you happy. It’s actually the precursor to Melatonin, which helps you maintain regular, healthy sleep patterns.

Why we use it:

Vitamin B6 facilitates the production of melatonin within your body. We include it in the Som Stack™ to help ensure your body’s natural Melatonin cycle is operating as smoothly as possible. It’s that simple.
